First mention of what we will eventually know as the R+L=J evidence corpus:
“I was with her when she died,” Ned reminded the King. “She wanted to come home, to rest beside Brandon and Father.” … Promise me, she had cried, in a room that smelled of blood and roses … The fever had taken her strength … but when he gave his word, the fear had gone out of his sister’s eyes.
What we know so far:
- Lyanna died of bleeding and/or fever.
- She extracted a promise from Eddard (implied, at this point, to be a promise that he see her buried in the Winterfell crypt).
